Book a weekend of fun with What’s Good. Celebrate Florida’s literary legacy at the Sunshine State Book Festival. The festival features 150 authors along with book signings, activities and presentations. Throw wide the gates of your imagination with the final weekend of the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire or find out if bacon really does go with everything with two days of food and fun at the BBQ and Bacon Fest, held at the Alachua County Agriculture and Equestrian Center in Newberry.

Enjoy refreshments, live music and inspiring works of art with the Gainesville Fine Arts Association 100th Year Anniversary Kick-Off celebration and art walk reception, then set out on a self-guided tour of the local art scene with this month’s Artwalk Gainesville line up. Theatre stages light up with opening weekend performances of The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity at the Hippodrome Theatre and William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet at Gainesville Community Playhouse.

View Memories of Legendary Bands at a Legendary Music Venue at the Matheson History Museum’s Newest Exhibit “Return to Forever: Gainesville’s Great Southern Music Hall”
Museum Hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
The Matheson History Museum looks back at the state-of-the-art concert venue in Gainesville between 1974 and 1978. The Great Southern Music Hall hosted performers including Jimmy Buffett, Ray Charles, Muddy Waters, Bob Seger and Steve Martin to name a few. The exhibit features a collection of live performance photos from the house photographer John Moran, Bo Diddley’s signature square guitar and other artifacts. Admission is free.
