Meet the Big Band!

The Gainesville Big Band presents a jazz concert Sunday, April 14, 2 pm at Meizon Church, 3411 NW 83rd St, Gainesville. Tickets: adults $15 Students 18 and under $12. Advanced tickets Gainesvillebigband.com or at door.
This unusual performance includes a guest teen jazz band called “In Full Swing” and seasoned players of the Gainesville Big Band playing a repertoire from the big band era and more contemporary jazz like Randy Newman and Nora Jones.
“In Full Swing” is a jazz band of teens from Gainesville. In 2023, they won the first local Teen Battle of the Bands. They have performed for the Gainesville Swing Dancers club, and for venues such as The Village, The Bull, Bo Diddley Plaza, and others.
Listeners will learn about each section of instruments: In the mood will feature the sax section. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy will feature the trumpet section; Bone Voyage will feature the trombone section; Sing, Sing, Sing will feature drums; and Route 66 will feature guitar and bass.
