The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo houses 70 species, and 250 individual animals in its collection, including white handed gibbons, red ruffed lemurs, ocelots, bald eagles, Galapagos tortoises, African grey parrots, and Matschie’s tree kangaroo.

The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is Gainesville community zoo and the training facility for the Zoo Animal Technology Program. Situated on 10 forested acres, the Zoo allows guests to get up close and personal with some unique animals. There is a multi-stage playground for the kids and free wi-fi for parents. Some of our favorite events include Boo at the Zoo, a free trick-or-treat event every Halloween, Party for the Planet our Earth Day celebration each April.

Admission: $6 for Adults; $5 for children (ages 4-12), Seniors (60+), Active Military & Veterans, and UF students and staff (with ID); • Free for children 3 and under, Zoo members, and Santa Fe College students and staff members (with ID)

Days Open: 7 days a week. No appointments needed. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas day.
