OPEN Track & Field Open Training / Scheduled Practice

The Jimmy Carnes Track at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center is now open for open training and scheduled practice.  Open training is open for individuals at $10 per person.  Payment must be made (credit card only) and a waiver of liability form submitted on-site at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center upon arriving.  Please present your spikes at the information desk when making payment to ensure your spikes are compliant with the ¼” pyramid spike requirement. 

Open Training is available from 5pm – 9pm on the following days:

Teams / clubs that would like to schedule exclusive practice (scheduled practice) can do so by scheduling in advance with the Alachua County Sports and Events Center.  A rental application and contract will need to be executed, and teams/clubs must provide a certificate of insurance naming Alachua County Board of County Commissioners as additional insured.   Scheduled practice is available on the following dates at a rate of $250 per hour (payable by check or credit card).  Contact [email protected] to schedule.

Track & Field Open Training

JIMMY CARNES TRACK RULES

  • Only 1/4 “ pyramid spikes are permitted on the Mondo surface
  • Spikes are not permitted on the unprotected gray floor of the event center
  • Open Training and Scheduled Practice does not include any throws (shot put or weight throw)
  • Open Training does not include high jump training
  • Pole vault training is not permitted without a coach present
  • Athletes / teams must bring their own bungees or crossbars for pole vault training
  • Teams may practice during Open Training but may not prevent others from use of the facilities
  • Teams seeking exclusive or controlled use of the facilities must pre-schedule time during Scheduled Practice designated days/times
  • Runners must use the 200m oval and 60m sprint lanes in the same directional manner as competition (infield to your left for the oval; southward on the sprint lanes)
  • The ACSEC reserves the right to remove any individual that is not respecting the facility or using the facilities as intended
  • Touching or moving of facility timing or display equipment is not permitted
  • Food or beverage is not permitted on or within the oval track
  • No amplified sound or music is permitted for the comfort of others
