The O’Connell Center is a versatile public assembly facility that supports academic, athletic, recreational, and entertainment activities. The arena’s clients include University departments, student and campus organizations, the University Athletic Association, and a wide range of groups from Gainesville and the surrounding communities. Along with hosting daily classes and athletic events—such as basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and swimming and diving—the “O’Dome” also serves as a venue for concerts, family programs, trade shows, lectures, and commencement ceremonies for both the University of Florida and local high schools.
