Acrosstown Repertory Theatre
The charming 68-seat Acrosstown Repertory Theatre offers patrons a unique and innovative cultural experience in an intimate turn-of-the-century space. The ART’s mainstage shows run the emotional gamut– heartwrenching dramas, topical period pieces, toe-tapping musicals, and laugh-out-loud comedies– the common thread being our desire to start a conversation and create theatre for thinking people.
Founded in 1980, the ART develops new talent, plays, audiences and ideas while also celebrating and revivifying great plays of the past. Both professional and amateur artists– playwrights, designers, actors, tech crews and musicians– have honed their craft here and seen their visions realized. The volunteer-run ART provides a safe place where people of all ages, genders, races, socio-economic backgrounds and beliefs can create unsafe theatre– theatre that transforms. With at least seven mainstage productions and dozens of events a year, something is always happening at the ART!
The Acrosstown is located in the historic Baird Center (est. 1910) at 619 South Main St, between Akira Wood and Heartwood Soundstage, and our entrance is just north of Depot Ave traffic circle and Cade museum. For most shows, general admission is $15, with a discount for students, veterans, seniors and active military. Tickets may be purchased in advance at acrosstown.org, or at the door thirty minutes before showtime. Most major credit cards accepted.
