Celebrate the fourth on the third at the annual Independence Day Eve event featuring musical performances by Now Leaving Space, Souza Brass Band, The Savants and the Gainesville Community Band and the Gainesville Pops under the direction of Gary Langford. Attendees can picnic in the grass or patronize food trucks on site. The fireworks, presented by Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys, will begin at 9:30 p.m. during the music. Additional events include children’s activities in the PBS Kids Zone sponsored by Sun Country Sports Center, The Child Advocacy Center and the Florida Museum of Natural History. LifeSouth Blood Center will also be on site to conduct a blood drive and the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office will conduct voter registration.
The event is presented by the UF College of Journalism and Communication public media properties WUFT-TV, WUFT-FM and WUFT Classic. The premiere sponsor is Covering Florida Navigation Program with additional sponsorships from the City of Gainesville, the University of Florida, GRU and IQ Fiber.
