Uplift GNV: An Upbeat GNV Benefit Show

Raise a glass to mental wellness: Alachua County musicians mental health organization Upbeat GNV is throwing its inaugural Uplift GNV benefit concert on Saturday, April 6, 2024, starting at 5:30 p.m., at First Magnitude Brewing Company at 1220 SE Veitch St. Gainesville, FL 32601.
Trustfall, Daydreaming and Summer is Evil will be performing, with acoustic sets from Thomas Allain of Late Night Losers and Quil Darling. Entry is free and all ages are welcome to attend. Guests can purchase a wristband that will take $2 off any drink purchase. Proceeds will benefit the performers and the Upbeat GNV Musicians Therapy Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship, created in partnership with Gainesville Community Counseling Center, will allow any musician who receives it to attend up to 8 private therapy sessions at the center at no cost.
“This scholarship program is a dream years in the making,” said Upbeat GNV founder Alex Klausner. “What makes it great is having a place like GCCC involved as the provider, which will afford musicians who get this scholarship the ability to try different therapists if they feel like they need to. Therapy is not one-size-fits all, and our people should have options.”
Upbeat GNV is a newly minted 501(3)c nonprofit founded by veterans of the Gainesville, FL music scene. Its stated goal of reducing barriers toward mental wellness within Alachua County’s music scene.
