Start your June Challenge with the Alachua Audubon Society and check off 30-40 species by lunchtime. Saturday’s kick-off begins at Longleaf Flatwoods Reserve with stops at La Chua Trail and Sweetwater Wetlands Park.

The June Challenge is a summer birding tradition originating in Alachua County in 2004. It’s a friendly competition to identify as many bird species as possible from June 1-30 within a Florida county. Last year, 136 species were spotted in Alachua County.
