Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the 42nd Anniversary King Celebration, presented by the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Florida in partnership with local organizations. This multi-day observance brings together commemorative ceremonies, youth recognition, and community celebration across Gainesville and Alachua County.

The celebration culminates on Monday, January 19, beginning with a Memorial Gardens redesign ribbon cutting and Hall of Fame enshrinement at 11 a.m., followed by the MLK National Holiday Parade at noon. The parade will follow East University Avenue to Waldo Road, and head North to the Martin Luther King Jr., Multipurpose Center, 1028 NE 14th Street, Gainesville, Florida. Please double check the official Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Florida website in case of any schedule or route  changes. The afternoon continues with a National Holiday Celebration at 1 p.m. featuring floats, marching bands, dance groups, and community organizations. Free shuttle service is provided from Citizens Field to downtown Gainesville.
