Family participating in science activity

Splash into Science with the Florida Museum at the library! Neat science sessions bring the water cycle into your hands. Perfect for elementary-aged learners looking for something new to do.

This four-part series consists of four free, 45-minute learning sessions aimed at bringing core science concepts to K-8 students in an informal setting. While the four parts of the series are meant to work together, each session is designed to also offer stand-alone science education. If you miss one session, you can check the calendar and catch it at a different library branch. These sessions do not require pre-registration but do have limited capacity.

Exploring surface tension
In this third session of the Splash into Science series, learn about how some bugs and tiny organisms can walk on water! They can do this because of a special property of water called surface tension. In this activity, you will discover the answers to these questions and more.
