The A. Quinn Jones Museum & Cultural Center, housed in the former Jones Family home at 1013 NW 7th Avenue in Gainesville, serves as a tribute to one of the most influential educators in the history of Alachua County. The Museum features a permanent exhibit on “Prof” Jones, the people and places of the Fifth Avenue/Pleasant Street neighborhood, and houses a collection of oral histories centering on the African-American experience in Gainesville.

Sarasota Slim has been part of the Tampa Bay Blues scene for decades, and Frankie Gearing is the chart-topping hit-maker of “You Got My Mind Messed Up.”

Find Your Light at the Shadow to Substance Exhibition Opening

The Shadow to Substance exhibition creates a chronological arc from the past to the present into the future using historical photographs through the lens of Black photographers working today. The exhibition expands ideas around healing, myth, intimacy, joy, resistance and rebirth to create a space for visitors to see and identify with uplifting narratives shaped by an invigorated portrait of Black life. Exhibition open through February 27, 2022.
