And, the Gainesville Big Band helps you get into a Friday state of mind at Bo Diddley Plaza in Downtown Gainesville. Get that summer camp vibe with three days of craft beer and classic camp games at Camp First Magnitude.  

Journey through the life story of a jazz legend at an Evening with Billie Holiday at A. Quinn Jones Museum and Cultural Center or meander through town with the Gainesville Fine Arts Association’s self-guided signature Artist Studio Tour. Escape the heat at an indoor show with the opening weekend of the hilarious Spamalot at Gainesville Community Playhouse. Kick back in the shaded stands and see horses and riders clear fences with grace with Horse Shows in the Park at the Alachua County Agriculture and Equestrian Center.

Go Behind The Scenes of the Artistic Process at GFAA’s Signature Artist Studio Tour

This unique art tour takes place once a year. Meet local artists in their studios and learn how works of art come to life. A preview tour at participating locations takes place Friday evening. Find maps of the tour online, at GFAA and at studio locations on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.

Enjoy an evening of ambient performances selected by local music producer Kane Pour in a chill space and unwind with a chair massage hosted by UF SW Rec Sports. Don’t miss an Art Blast tour led by a museum docent, as the galleries are open all evening. Admission is free.

Embark on a Wacky Quest with King Arthur at the Opening Weekend of the Musical Comedy Monty Python’s Spamalot

Ripped off from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
