Gainesville celebrates Tom Petty with 65 musical acts, hundreds of local, national and international musicians, 5 themed craft beer launches, bus tours, storytellers, first-ever seen rock memorabilia, fireworks, murals, a sing-a-long and thousands of Tom Petty fans from across the nation and around the world for 4 days honoring the life and legacy of this Hall of Fame hometown hero. Tom Petty Symposium at the Matheson Museum

The Matheson History Museum will host the Tom Petty Symposium. Three book authors and two musicians, who either knew Tom personally or studied his life, will share stories and discuss the importance and impact of Tom Petty’s music – Mike Boulware, Bob Kealing, Danny Roberts, Jon Scott, and Paul Zollo. Three days of music, stories, tours, memorabilia and good times with outdoor and indoor stages. Vendors and food trucks will be on site with beer and wine available for purchase.

B-Side Vintage will have memorabilia on display including Tom’s first good amp – a ’66 Fender Bassman, a ’52 Les Paul and amp used by Danny Roberts on the original Mudcrutch demo and childhood items from Keith Harben.

A relaxing social gathering at the park closest to Tom’s childhood home. Everyone is invited to drop by Tom Petty Park, enjoy lunch and sing Happy Birthday. Enjoy Latin food from The Charcoal Grill Food Truck or bring your own picnic lunch. Special painted rocks will be hidden throughout the park – #GainesvilleRocks. Additional bathroom facilities will be onsite and additional parking will be made available. Dogs are welcome. Bring a blanket or chair to relax on.
