November 1 - November 3
$10Event Navigation
The Young Dancer Workshop of North Central Florida (YDW) provides young dancers (ages 11-18) in the region an opportunity to experience a multitude of dance styles, perform, and connect with other dance enthusiasts. YDW allows participants to deepen their relationship with dance as a possible career pursuit and experience training through the lens of academia and dance professionalism. YDW students will receive professional training, offered by a wide range of professional dance artists, and be immersed in the different forms, styles, and influences of dance. Movement styles will range and be inclusive of many different forms such as historical, cultural, artistic, and somatic.
The YDW Showcase performance will be held at the Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall on Saturday, November 2nd at 8pm. This showcase is open to the public. The YDW Showcase is a celebration of our work.
This year, our workshop is accompanied by the renowned Doug Varone and Dancers.
Doug Varone and Dancers continues to be among the most sought-after ambassadors and educators in the field. The company’s multi-discipline residency programs take audiences deeper into the work, with hands-on approach that moves beyond the studio to speak directly to people of all ages and backgrounds, both dancers and non-dancers alike. Doug Varone and Dancers exists to explore the creative vision of choreographer and director Doug Varone and his artistic collaborators. At the core of the mission is a commitment to creating an equitable and safe environment in which to work, regardless of race, gender, identity, or disability. DOVA’s artistic investigations dig deep into the storytelling of human nature engaging in dialogue with diverse audiences and creative communities globally. Sharing these authentic connections through its work and process informs every aspect of the organization, particularly its extensive educational platforms.
