Wes Skiles Water Stewardship Awards

November 4 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Underwater Cave Diver. Drawn to the Deep, the remarkable underwater explorations of Wes Skiles. Julie Hauserman

The Wes Skiles Water Stewardship Awards was created in memory of Wes Skiles whose mission was to educate and inspire Floridians, to teach us about our remarkable array of water resources, and how to safeguard them. The Wes Skiles Water Stewardship Awards are awarded annually at this event, recognizing exceptional efforts in improving water quality and conservation in the North Central Florida area. Individuals, organizations, and businesses or other entities that have demonstrated exceptional achievements in water stewardship may be nominated by members of Rotary Clubs in North Central Florida or past recipients of the award.

Awards will be presented at the 7th Annual Rotary Club of Downtown Gainesville event on Monday, November 4th, 2019 at the Cade Museum, 811 South Main Street, Gainesville, FL.
The program will include hors d’oeuvres, open bar, special guest speaker and awards presentation.

Our keynote speaker this year will be Bill Kurtis, American television journalist, producer, narrator and current host for NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! Bill and Wes worked together on several films and will share some of his clips from Ice Island, one of Wes’s most extreme National Geographic explorations of Antarctica.
