2020 saw a surge of new roller skaters all over the world — and all over social media. It makes sense that skating is the pandemic pastime for so many: it’s fun, accessible, and great exercise.
So whether you’ve been posting tons of skating TikToks, or you’re a new skater working on the basics — or you’ve never actually strapped on wheels before — the Gainesville Roller Rebels invite you to a FREE, virtual introduction to the world of roller derby!
If you have ever wanted to get involved in the roller derby community, this is the first step! You have two chances to catch the virtual 101, and get introduced to the sport of roller derby, the league, and training programs — as well as share skating basics and resources.
GRR welcomes folks from all walks of life. All races, sizes, genders, ages, sexual orientations, and abilities are welcome. All you need is yourself and your interest in roller skating!

A Few Things:
This recruitment event is a free, low-pressure opportunity for you to learn more about roller derby and our team.
There is no skating during this recruitment event and you don’t need anything besides pen/paper for notes.
Recruitment is open to all genders. Though the competitive skating team is limited to women, gender-expansive, and gender non-conforming people, they are always looking to recruit folks of all genders who are interested in reffing or volunteering. The sport could not exist without people in these important roles.
All skill levels are welcome: the training program is designed to take you from zero to derby hero!
If you have any additional questions, please email Join@GainesvilleRollerRebels.com. Looking forward to meeting you!
