The Community That Eats Together, Stays Together: Strengthening Community through Florida Heritage Foods

Join an interactive culinary experience facilitated by diverse, local chefs who infuse their unique cultures into the delicious food they make! This event will bring together immigrant and native-born residents of Alachua County for the deliverable efforts as outlined in Welcoming America’s Fund to Foster Belonging grant project.
Guests will get to savor the chef’s signature dishes and learn the significance behind each plate and its unique connection to their backgrounds. Under the guidance of one of the amazing chefs, guests will also enjoy the opportunity to work in a team with other attendees in the creation of a team’s very own “Gainesville Dish”. Each chef’s table will be using ingredients that are historically important to this multicultural state.
The location will be provided to selected participants.

Chef Robert Colon, Working Food: Global dishes with locally-sourced produce
