Award-winning novelist Richard Gartee will give a multimedia presentation and reading from his latest novel, Orgone Gizmo at the Millhopper Branch Library, 3145 NW 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL
The book tells the story of Gizmo Carson, a Korean War vet, turned hippie, who travels the country in a VW camper building orgone accumulators to make up for the US government burning psychiatrist Wilhelm Reich’s books on orgone energy.
Gizmo’s saga spans the latter half of the 20th century, recalling key milestones of those decades, and concludes with a surprising twist that hearkens back to an incident during Reich’s work in Arizona.
Gartee has authored thirty published books, including eight novels, six collections of poetry, seven college textbooks, a biography, and the history of the Hippodrome Theatre.
