Contra dancing is social dancing that is fun for everyone, with rotating partners. With live music, the dances are explained, walked through, and called. No experience necessary. Wear comfortable clothes (especially shoes), and come ready for a fun, adventurous, and delicious evening.
Fun facts about contra dancing: Not the same as country line dancing; Has nothing to do with the Iran-Contra Affair; No fancy footwork involved—most common type of movement is a smooth walking step; Soft soled shoes like tennis shoes are recommended; Caller teaches each dance before it starts and continues with clear directions. If you can just relax and stop worrying, Contra Dancing is lots of fun!
