Human Library

The Human Library is a collection of local, volunteer Human Books designed to provide a safe place where open and honest conversations can lead to greater acceptance, tolerance, and social cohesion in the community.
Originating in Copenhagen, Denmark 20 years ago, The Human Library is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. We are currently seeking and interviewing Human Books for the event. They are volunteers who have personally experienced prejudices, such as stereotyping or biases related to addiction, disabilities, ethnicity, family relations, gender, health, lifestyle, mental health, occupation, religion/ideology, sexual orientation, social status, victimization or other prejudices. The Human Books will share their experiences and engage in conversations with people who choose to attend the event to listen, discuss, and learn about Human Books’ personal experiences.
The aim is
• To build understanding and knowledge about people who are different from oneself.
• To make human connections that build bridges across our differences.
• To unjudge others
