How People Make Things Exhibit at the Cade Museum
September 3 @ 12:00 pm - September 4 @ 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 12:00 pm on Friday, repeating until September 5, 2021
Children today can feel removed from how common items in their lives are made – their toys, clothes and more.
How People Make Things tells the story of how everyday items are
manufactured and brings to life the people, ideas and technology that
transform raw materials into finished products.
This exhibit, created by the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, is inspired by the Mister Rogers’ Factory Tours. Through his factory tours, Fred Rogers took complex issues and made them understandable, relatable and fascinating to children.
This exhibit helps children appreciate that the objects in their lives were made through human ingenuity.
How People Make Things was created by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in collaboration with Family Communications, Inc. (FCI), the producer of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Learning in Out-of-School Environments (UPCLOSE). The exhibit was supported in part by the National Science Foundation and The Grable Foundation.
