Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale

This 5-day event, organized and presented by the all-volunteer Friends of the Library organization, offers over 500,000 gently used (community donated) books of all genres, objects of art, puzzles, games, movies, vinyl records, CDs, magazines and much more at BARGAIN prices. (Most items are priced 25 cents to $4.)(Tuesday all items half price; Wednesday all items 10 cents) Proceeds are for the benefit of the Alachua County Library District programs promoting literacy. The bookshelves are organized by categories which include (but are not limited to) academic texts, children’s and young adult books, travel guides, cookbooks, novels, biographies, mysteries, needlework, drama, classics, reference books, archaeology, large print, anthropology, sociology, psychology, biology, medical, many foreign languages, vocal and instrumental music, crafts, sports, hobbies, do-it-yourself and self-help books. There is a huge selection of history books from ancient to modern as well as a large military section.
For serious bibliophiles, the popular Collector’s Corner (open Saturday- Tuesday) offers many rare, first edition, and signed volumes, as well as collectible local maps, postcards, and authors works.
