First Friday Downtown High Springs

Downtown High Springs businesses are in the holiday spirit with this month’s First Friday celebration. This month’s celebration features art, crafts, pop up street vendors, sales galore and the High Springs Giving Tree in support of St. Madeleine’s Community Outreach which is feeding 400 families Christmas dinner this year. This event is sponsored by High Springs Downtown Merchants and the City of High Springs Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
This month’s event features a variety of activities and interests.
Tree of Giving Food Drive
Join in with local businesses in support of High Springs own St. Madeleine’s Community Outreach (SMCO) program. This year SMCO will provide dinners for at 400 families this Christmas. Bring a nonperishable food item to any participating business and receive 10% any item during First Fridays in November and December. Goods can also be dropped off at the Information Table in front of Bambi’s Café. St. Madeleine’s Community Outreach staff will be there to answer any questions.
Unique Notions will host local painter, Richard Tarbox inside and have Apple & Tree Art outside the store and includes a drawing for gift certificate.
Bambi’s Café will once again host a special dinner menu, this month with a focus on healthy eating and in anticipation of those New Year’s resolutions, she’s creating a special meal using macrobiotic principals and incorporating fresh fish. It’s time to eat healthy now, why wait for New Year’s resolutions! Limited seating begins at 6pm.
Lanza Gallery & Art Supplies will host a children’s ornament craft table on a first come, first served basis.
River Run Olive Oil Co. will be decorating salt ornaments for the children and sampling of their products for all ages.
Florida Quilt Trail Exhibit
The Florida Quilt Trail stops in High Springs with these crafted artworks showcased at the High Springs Old School and Historical Museum, Bennett’s True Value, River Run Olive Oil, Lanza Gallery & Art Supplies and the Antiques Center, all located in historic downtown High Springs.
Pop Up Restaurants & Merchant Demonstrations, Specials and Discounts
Area restaurants, businesses and artisans will be “Popping Up” along the sidewalks and offer quick food options for those looking to stroll and snack. And, local merchants will be offering demonstrations, specials and discounts in their stores during the event.
First Friday celebrations held each month in the downtown area. Activities begin at 5pm and run through 8pm.
