See why it’s

One of Our Favorites

Opened in 1987, the 63-acres worth of Botannical Gardens are located directly next to Lake Kanapaha, hence their name.  Containing many beautiful and rare species of flora, Kanapaha also plays host to some of Gainesville’s best events for nature-lovers.

Aside from seeing the Chinese Royal Bamboo and Giant Victoria Water Lillies, if you visit in late March, you can check out the Spring Garden Festival with over 200 vendor booths featuring plants, crafts and educational material. The annual Rose Show, Orchid Show, and Moonlight Walk are also cant-miss events.

Kanapaha is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic on a blanket with plenty of sunshine. It's one of our family's favorite places in Gainesville. - Tamara Herchel, Gainesville Local
