Located in the Historic Thomas Center, the Thomas Center Galleries present a wide variety of exhibitions... from contemporary art and regional history to rare antiquities and fine photography.

Throughout the 1900's the Thomas Center was the social gathering place for residents. It is now the City of Gainesville’s Cultural Center and city offices. The Thomas Center’s ...history and evolution is an interesting story. The estate previously called “Sunkist Villa” was completed in 1910. Major William Reuben Thomas, his wife Kathryn and their five children made it their home. In 1928 the property was expanded to become a resort hotel. The building remained important until its closing in 1968. It then became the campus of Santa Fe Community College. In 1974 the property was purchased by the City of Gainesville and the buildings were restored. Restored through the envolvement of Spring Pilgrimage, Jr. League of Gainesville, and the Thomas Center Associates (who remain active in the facility's continued enhancement to this day) this revitalized historic Center was rededicated February 10, 1979. In addition to featuring superb exhibitions in its Main and Mezzanine Galleries, a number of the Thomas Center's historic rooms have been recreated to transport our visitors back to the early 20th Century, when the facility played host to Gainesville's most glamorous visitors.
