One of the pleasures of shopping in Alachua is the small town charm of Main Street, with small family-owned shops lining a winding street right out of the 1950’s.
Days Open: Sunday - Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - Saturday
You can shop for gifts, art. crafts and what-nots at Christie’s on Main Street, with even more at My Sweet Art and Garden Gallery. Stop for a Monster Burger from Conestogas or stroll up to the Ivy House, an old family home now restored to its grand elegance, for traditional Southern cooking - and they have a full coffee bar with baked goods. Or have a pizza at the Main Street Pie Company. If you feel like a gourmet Italian dinner, try Ristorante Deneno’s.
Several new shopping centers are being developed just outside of Alachua’s historic district. The Alachua Towne Centre promises to maintain the town’s charm with a pathway that takes you through a small city park under a canopy of oaks. The Alachua Gateway Center will blend nature and development with Florida-style architecture in a setting of towering live oaks and dogwood trees.
Alachua is 16 miles northwest from Gainesville.
