The 80-seat Acrosstown Repertory Theatre offers patrons a unique and innovative cultural experience in an intimate setting. Since its inception in 1980, the ART has offered citizens of all ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds opportunities to write, act, direct and produce experimental drama.

Through the years, the ART has produced African-American plays along with Shakespeare and work from local playwrights, including socially and politically significant plays from around the world. The Student Ensemble Theatre, for young actors, also performs several times a year. The Acrosstown Repertory Theatre is located in the Baird Center just south from downtown Gainesville. The Baird Center is an industrial structure dating back to 1912, now listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Call to check ticket availability.
